Mist-Net Survey

Jackson Group teamed with Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon, Inc. of Nashville, Tennessee to conduct a survey of federally listed threatened and endangered bat species on Chattanooga Crossings, located in Hamilton County, Tennessee.  The purpose of this project was to survey and inventory bat species, establishing the presence or probable absence of the federally listed Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) and northern long-eared bat (M. septentrionalis).  The project area was approximately 81 acres in size.  Based on mist-netting guidelines and protocols set forth by the United States Fisheries and Wildlife Service’s (USFWS) Indiana Bat Revised Recovery Plan (2015), two mist-net sites were surveyed.

The objective of this project was to provide state and federal agencies with (1) an inventory of bats, (2) quantify bat species abundance and composition, and (3) evaluate the presence or probable absence of threatened and/or endangered bat species, specifically the Indiana and northern long-eared bat within the project area.
